Magic Johnson Fires Himself From The Lakers ?
Magic Johnson abruptly fired himself as the Lakers GM after his 26 month tenure, going 79-108 with a 42% winning percentage. Johnson had full control over the Lakers (who have missed the playoffs since 2013) said he didn’t feel like himself as the GM, especially since he was going to have to be the one to fire Head Coach Luke Walton.
Magic Johnson says he likes to be free to congratulate players such as Russell Westbrook when he hit the 20–20-20 mark. Says he couldn’t be himself and he hasn’t informed Jeanie Buss yet.

.@MagicJohnson did the right thing. His role as the @nba ambassador is a better life look and plus let someone else do the dirty dirty. He gambled & @KingJames was winning that hand yet injures are real . It shows that there’s nothing fixed & automatically ordained in the league

Magic Johnson shocks – well, everyone – and announces he’s stepping down as president of the Lakers. Says he’s not yet spoken to Jeanie Buss to tell her. Says he’s sick of tampering rules, he’s tired of the “backstabbing” & says he didn’t want to disappoint Jeanie by firing Luke. pic.twitter.com/m50VKQmmDR

Magic Johnson stepped down in the most Magic way possible. Didn't feel like answering to anybody because he's Magic. Didn't have to inform his boss because he is a boss. Quit because he couldn't just be loveable Magic anymore. Wanted to reclaim Magic status with this Magic flex

"I love Magic Johnson; I love his heart; I love his aura … but I can't defend what just happened. He failed, and he bailed; he flat-out quit, and he did so without informing one of the greatest basketball players we've ever seen, LeBron James." — @RealSkipBayless pic.twitter.com/gIiEUasO6T

Magic Johnson talking about D’Angelo Russell during his impromptu press conference. He called the All-Star point guard “immature” during his time with the Lakers.

Lonzo Ball on Magic Johnson resigning: "It did shock me like it did the rest of the world, but it's what's best for him. Wish him the best. He drafted me. This is better for his life. That's what he wants to do. I'm going to support it 100%"

The Lakers have 3 more years left with LeBron James and need to make major moves in the off season with a fire sale of their players. Starting with Lonzo Ball.
